Krissy McKown

Krissy McKown obtained her Juris Doctor from Barry University School of Law in 2007 and comes from a distinguished South Carolina family committed to the law. Raised in Gaffney, South Carolina, Ms. McKown attended the College of Charleston and obtained her Bachelor's Degree of Arts in 1994. Currently, she is in the process of completing the coursework necessary to earn the coveted Certificate in Fundraising from NYU's Heyman Center for Philanthropy and Fundraising.

Ms. McKown's diverse professional background includes being a French translator for singer Gloria Gaynor to working as Head of Development for a film company in Los Angeles, CA. While in Los Angeles, Ms. McKown had the privilege of working with many A-list players including former studio head Alan Ladd, Jr., Producer/Director Frank Marshall of the Kennedy/Marshall Company and Writer David Ward ("The Sting"). Additionally, she clerked for the Honorable Donald Grincewicz in the 9th Judicial Circuit Court in Florida and clerked at the prestigious Los Angeles based law firm of Iverson, Yoakum, Papiano & Hatch, working directly for senior managing partner, Neil Papiano. Ms. McKown has worked in a wide area of practice areas including Entertainment, Medical Malpractice, Intellectual Property, Wills, Trusts & Estates, Family, Vehicle Defect, Securities and Contract Law.

Also a volunteer Guardian Ad Litem, Ms. McKown has undergone over thirty hours of volunteer training. She made this sacrifice of her time and energy in order to give a voice to children who otherwise would not be heard. Ms. McKown represents children in Charleston County Court and does not shy away from more difficult cases.

Prior to entering the field of law, Ms. McKown worked as an actress in many productions locally and professionally throughout the United States and Canada. A member of the Screen Actors Guild, she is an avid supporter of the Arts, and continues to participate in local productions in the Charleston area.
